I am running XP through VMWare Fusion right now. Is it possible to set up Bootcamp and have it use the same partition as the VMWare? I've read that if you set up Bootcamp, you can set up VMWare on the same partition. Can it work the other way around? Set up VMWare first and then set up Bootcamp on the same partition. Thanks...

I think you can only do it the other way around. You have to setup bootcamp first, and then VMWare

So, if I set up Bootcamp first, then set up Fusion, Fusion will use the same copy of XP from Bootcamp. Right? Does that mean I just have to install the programs just once in Bootcamp? Meaning, Fusion will use the same XP with all the same programs and files as what was set up and being used in Bootcamp?

Yes. If you set VMWare to use your Boot Camp partition, then changes you make while in either environment will affect the Boot Camp partition.

What is the best way to delete Fusion so that I can re-do this first with bootcamp? If I drag the Fusion folder from Apps folder in the trash, that will do it right? Doing this will get rid of XP too. I am sorry if I should know this. I've only been using OSX for about a month and learning as I go.

There's no real need to delete VMWare. Just delete the virtual machine.

Yeah just delete the VM. Right click it in Virtual Machine Library and click delete.

does anyone know if VMWare Fusion creates the same problems as Parallels with regards to Windows activation?

umm use bootcamp and activate your windows, then use vmware to run it.

Yes, but I read that for Parallels, when you switch between bootcamp and Parallels, Windows will detect a "hardware" change will require reactivation. Is this also true of Fusion?

Yes, I've encountered that with my installation of Vista on Boot Camp and VMWare Fusion. I believe ( not 100% sure!!!) the right order is to activate first using Parallels/Fusion first before activating again on Boot Camp. I do know you'll need to activate twice, once in Fusion/Parallels, then again in Boot Camp and then you'll be able to use either without worry.

Once again, not 100% sure on the order of the 2 activations.

Edit: Reason I can't remember is because it's been a while since I've installed Vista on my MBP.

yes, they ask for activation sometime (first time they didnt, second time they did), but its a really simple process that can be done over the phone and its all electronically done.
