I would like to by a new MBP on ebay since it cheaper for $100, now tax so $150 more and pay by papal give back to me $250 after 60 days. So in total, it could save up to $500 if I buy a MBP on ebay.

There the only thing I concern about is warranty and how to make sure the machine is not refurbish.

Is there anybody has experience on buying MBP on Ebay could give me some advices. Many thanks for quick response.

I would buy this machine in today but still don't know should go with ebay or Apple store :(

If it's got the same specs as the one on the Apple store and it's cheaper, why not? Make sure its a trusted seller.

a lot of open-box item marked as new sealed in box on ebay. be aware

apple don't do discount often, how come is it cheaper on ebay? some sellers opened the machine to upgrade ram and still ad their goods as "new sealed in box" " never opened".

Be sure to ask for a proof-of-purchase as well.

Why not go to Apple's store and get a refurb? You get a year guarantee, a pretty sure bet of getting a good unit plus all the benefits that you'd get from an Apple store.

I usually buy my mbp at the local apple store, because if there are any dead/stuck pixels or any other problems I can go get it exchanged right away and to me that's worth it to buying it directly from the apple store.

here's some lil tips for you if you do get it on eBay,

make sure they have high enough feedbacks (not just 0 or 1)
check what else are they selling and what they have been selling in the past (have they sell any other high value items)
is the spec of the laptop correct (does it match with the model #)
also check on other description (does it say new or used or opened, etc.)
check the shipping cost (sometimes they can be real high)
still confused after you read the description? don't be shy to ask the seller (or just to check everything is as described and also see if they are reliable to response)

also remember that Paypal will only insure you for 200.00 so if its a scam you'll only get 200.00 back and have no laptop and the rest of your money will be gone.

I just bough a White 13" Newest Model 2.16Ghz for $999. No tax, No shipping cost. Hope for 25% back from paypal and live search after 60days. So in total it could be $750. The guy sell it to me is 1-spare-tire, 244 feedback, 100% positive, power seller.

I guest he use the education discount because he sell lots of macbooks and ipods touch.

Is that a good way to buy my first ever mac machine ?
How to get the prove of purchase ? Is that the receipt that 1-spare-tire bough the machine from Apple or what is that ?

I still not see the $250 cashback show on my live account yet after 2 days. Shoud I worry about it ?

I would like to upgrade immediately to 4G Ram. Is Crucial is the best ? Is there any body know any deal for 4G Ram, 2x 2G, PC 5300, DDR2, 200 PIN ?

    Many thanks for your comments

Why not? ebay is a great place as long as you are careful. just buy from people with good ratings. My dad just saved over $150 on a chainsaw from ebay and it works like new (didn't look new but with something like that it doesn't matter).
