I heard that it may not be a good idea to buy the MBP for a few more weeks to make sure that there aren't any weird glitches or problems with it; do you think this has any validity? I'm heading to college in the fall and am really anxious to go ahead and purchase so I can start to learn how to use it.

I've ran into no problems so far, a week tommorrow of using it full time (Loggin well over 100 hours). If there was some issue with it, Apple is pretty speedy to take care of them.

free ipod (expires sept) + free printer (expires july 24th) = buy now or soon
-
how hot it is under normal usage? is it hot to use it on ur lap.
-
Not to bad under basic normal usage. Now if your using it for 3-4 hours on your lap it would get uncomfortable.
It also heats up after 7 hours straight setting on hardwood while "stress testing"
-
Are you sure that the printer offer expires on the 24th. A guy in the apple store yesterday told me that they always have the printer deal...
-
Been using my new 2.4GHz MBP for an hour + on my lap. Only surfing and downloading, but it's actually quite cool. I'm wearing shorts, and so far heat is not an issue.

Offer good between April 24, 2007, and July 23, 2007. -
It might come back, although I suppose you can't count on it. But I got the printer offer when I purchased my MacBook in February.

Well, normally its a good idea to wait a few weeks if there's a huge revision of a notebook (not just a MBP). Like the Core Duo version of the MacBook Pro (the very first Intel-based notebook from Apple) did have some issues in its first few weeks of shipment. But considering Apple has more experience with Intel's chips now and the MacBook Pro hasn't been redesigned, just internal changes, I wouldn't worry about it.
Quick, get your MBP now! And get a free iPod Nano from Apple!

I want mine now tooo. : D I think im finally gonna make the switch after being a PC guy for so long
-
Kinda true. However, that only applies to the first version of new hardware. In this case, that would be the original Core Duo MBPs. They certainly had issues. So did the Core Duo Macbooks. The problems with those computers seemed to have been fixed by the 2nd revision (Core2Duo). At this point, it SHOULD be clear sailing.
Usually it's just not smart to buy the first version of Apple's hardware, period. The 'issues' may not surface for weeks and it might take them even longer to admit that there's a problem and fix the product. Waiting a few weeks to see if problems surface is just as risky as not waiting at all, because the problems, if they're there, may surface months after the machines have come out. Sorry for the rant, but just know that now is probably the BEST time to purchase the MBP. -
I'm also very excited to go buy myself a MacBook, but I'm a bit "confused", so to say, about wether to buy it in a month or wait 'til MAC OSX Leopard comes out in October? Are there any chances that there will there be any changes in the MacBook line in october? LED Backlit screen, faster processors?? something??

That sucks, they aren't giving away any free stuff with an MBP here on the Australian store... or the apple store near me, they give away an iPod with every mac pro though =\ and 500 bucks off
Oh well
Buy now?
