    Hi all,

So I have finally decided to purchase my first macbook ever.

I was earlier looking at getting it from the UK as it had not been released in the Indian market, but now that it has been, I will be going for the 13" model.

I need advice from any Indian Mac customers or people who have had any sort of experience with their mac in India to help me out!

Traditionally, Mac support has been pretty abysmal in India and I was hesitant on the purchase, but this article has put me at ease a little:
    http://smokingapples.com/india/the-recounting-of-an-amazing-applecare-experience-in-india/

I am in New Delhi. Is there a retailer which is the best amongst the lot? Someone who will also care if there is a problem and you take the laptop back to him?

In the article, a company called RSG Infotech is mentioned. He seems to be giving a good price and says that they are the oldest Mac service provider in India.

Basically, I am looking for a genuine retailer who wouldn't rip you off and also will provide good support, if the need arises. I plan on getting the AppleCare plan as well.

    Thanks!

The problem is, any store I go into to buy a machine would assure me of their excellent support. They want to make a sale, pure and simple.

I want to know about stores, preferably where people have had a good experience and who are looking for more than just a quick sale, but to actually provide value to the customer.

i bought my Macbook from the Imagine Store at Ansal Plaza.
Had no problems with those people and they were really nice.

But i cannot say anything about the Apple Support in India cuz i havent encountered any problems with the laptop. *touchwood* :)

my friend of mine once told me that Macs sold in India have some quality issues and the service is terrible taking lots of time to resolve even basic issues.

Did u notice that the guy who got the replacement is selling his macbook pro? :D

My strategy would be tell them a problem and ask them how do they resolve it? such as I have a few dead pixel, what is your policy on exchange for a new machine?
When you buy it, open it at the store and let everybody see it. Check it right at the store if there is a problem.

Thanks. I've decided to go with RSG only, as they are giving me a cheaper price and discount on a cash payment, whereas Imagine is offering it to me at MRP, which is Rs. 5000 higher.

Yeah, I did notice that. I really did not approve of it, but I am sure he made a nice profit out of the whole deal.

That's exactly what I was thinking as well. As some countries, India does not have the 14 day no questions asked money back guarantee. So I am going to be opening it up in the store and making sure that its completely defect free before I buy it.

Well, I actually didn't know that it could start earlier as well. But luckily, I bought my machine on the 26th and the warranty starts on the 25th, so I seem to be pretty much ok.

I got the macbook pro for 69,500 on cash payment including tax. Total was 82,000 including AppleCare and tax and everything.

Congrats :) It's a lovely machine and Mac OS is really very nice to work with.

Yes, things are pretty expensive in India. Although, as I have no way of getting one from the US, I compared prices to the UK and they came out similar. That's why I just decided to get one from here.

The US is always going to cheaper than everywhere else on price :) I've learned to live with it.
