Anything I should be cautious about?
And what's the deal with a brand new sealed macbook going for 800 on ebay? Scam?

Yeah, cheap laptops on eBay are usually scams. You can check the feedback of the seller. If he has good feedback from previous highly priced laptop sales, then chances are it is not a scam. If he got all his feedback from selling pen fillers or something, then it is a scam.

Hmm. It's just things like.... a factor sealed macbook that retails at 1299 being sold for 800. Or a 1.5 year old macbook pro for like 500$. I'm really tempted to go through this method.
Out of curiosity, what kind of scams could they really get away with and not be held accountable? -
I got my MBP on eBay. It was a local seller which was pretty cool.
With Macs, one thing to check, if you *really* care, is whether or not the unit is refurbished. You can check this by getting the first two characters of the serial number. If they are RM, it's ReManufactured, ie. a refurb. Mine is a refurb, I took my chances anyway. There's some indications it's been opened, but otherwise functions properly and I have no regrets. No fancy stylish box tho, just a standard cardboard one. ; ;
