Just bought a mini DVI to DVI cable (adapter). I just realized that the cable is female and my monitor is a dvi-d female too! Two questions. Do I need a cable that has a female-male to hook up my Macbook? Also, since the mini dvi only supports single link can I use a dual link instead?

    Thanks guys.

I think it's more common to have a female port and have a male connector... so Apple hasn't really done anything wrong :p
There's always VGA... or you could get a female-to-male adapter

Female to male won't work. The output is a female and the monitor is a female too! So I have to buy a male to male I guess.

The mini-DVI connecter should be female and your tv should be female. DVI cables are Male-male.

so what he is saying is that you just need a DVI cable, as should be expected, and should be included in with your monitor.

Oh man... I'd love to work for Prod. I.G or studio Ghibli.

But my career specialty really wouldn't give me anything to offer them :(
