    Its the Western Digital 500gb 5400rpm on newegg.

    1. Can I install it into the macbook?
    2. Can I install OSX 10.5.4. Discs on the new HD? Im asking this because when i used to do clean installs on my pc-vista it would ask for the OS CD serial number. The 2 Leopard Discs came in 2 clear foil sleeves, but no CD keys?!?! Correct me if im wrong
    3. After installing the OS X and hit SOFTWARE UPDATE, will Apple allow me to download updates or will they say that this is a 2ND macbook that has the same ... umm ... serial i guess!?!?!

    *Would this in any way VOID the regular 1 year warranty, cuz i replaced the HD (or even RAM) without having an APPLE STORE EMPLOYEE do it for a fee?

    1. Yes.
    2. Yes.
    3. No Problem at all.
    You're all good to go ! When I was using my MB White (early 2008), I changed its HDD like ... 10 times, from 120GB -> 160GB -> 250GB -> another 250GB ->... without problem.

    I believe that the hard drive and memory in the mb's are end user upgradable, so it shouldn't affect your warranty, but just incase keep the old drive and if you have problems stick it back in before you send the laptop off.

    You should:
    1. Replace your MB's original HDD with a new one.
    2. Buy a cheap HDD enclosure and put the old HDD into it.
    3. Use.
    Replacing HDD in the Macbook doesn't void your warrranty, so don't worry.

    Can you install an SSD into the early 2008 white macbook?

    Is it really that much faster than the standard 160gb 5400rpm drive that came with the macbook?

    Yes you can install an SSD into the Early 08 White MB as long as it is SATA and as long as it is a 2.5 drive. Hope that helps!
