Hello hello, har har!![]()
Would like to know if my new 2.2ghz base model Macbook pro can power a 2.1 sound system.
In particular, the Logitech Z-2300 2.1 system.

I had heard using a "powerful 2.1 system" can kill your laptop because it "draws too much power from the laptop". Please tell SavageMac this ins't true!![]()

Actually it draws no "power" at all.
The z2300 has its own power supply, so how is it supposed to drain power from your laptop? What I´m trying to tell you is this: as long as the sound system one is going to use with his laptop has its own power source one won´t encounter any "power" related problems.

ok thanks for that
that said, will the 2.1 system work properly? will it work the same as a desktop (as in sound quality and loudness) -
yes, it will and Does work pefectly, I use it with my MBP all the time. sounds fantastic

I also have the z-2300 speakers for my MBP. By the way they have all the bass you want, but the mid range is pretty mediocre.

I use an Altec Lansing 2.1 setup both at work and at home. Sounds excellent. Although they seem to pick up interference from both cell phones and wireless cards, so that is a downside...
