I've heard you can't, but don't actually see anything excluding that integrated 9400 on Nvidia's page.

Anyone know? (Or if you can't, can you force install the regular or notebook drivers through device manager as you can on Nvidia hardware under XP?)

Darn. Thanks! I guess I'd have to go for the Macbook Pro then to be able to update the drivers.

Well, in the case of the Macbook Pro at least, you can just download Nvidia's notebook drivers, and they'll work fine on the 9600GT. It's officially supported. Some people were saying the integrated 9400 on the regular Macbook isn't though.

Yeah, it sounds like that fails, but you CAN just point the device manager at the INF file in the directory it creates, and force it to install that way without much trouble.

I guess mainly for games, or any other software that may need newer drivers for better compatibility/bug fixes/new features, etc. Normally the drivers shipped with a system are pretty out of date fast. Not a big deal for most drivers, but for video drivers it can be the difference between being able to run something or not.

no,you can simply double click on the installation and it will work directly. at least it works on my laptop. the driver worked fine on mine. The reason i downloaded mine from nvidia is that i though apple's display drier would make my laptop graphics become hotter than the nvidia driver but i guess it doesn't do anything to the temperature.

You installed that on your Macbook Pro though right? (I guess the official Nvidia notebook driver?) That is supposed to work (and glad to hear it does!) Apparently you have to go through the device driver with the integrated graphics on the regular Macbook though. (Although it also apparently works that way, which is good.)

I deleted my posts to avoid confusion. I was trying to be helpful, but apparently failed to do so. Thank you for once again pointing that out, and i will refrain from posting information that is not correct. If at all

    Thanks,

there's only 1 driver on the site. you cannot miss it. just download it and install it on your mac. no need to put modded inf as it's already designed for mobile gpu's..hope that helps
