If you run the Windows 7 bootcamp setup program, it will roll through and install all of the missing drivers including sound. The only thing I saw missing from a non bootcamp (native) install is the trackpad interface to control clicking and scrolling. -
So when you say the win7 setup program, you are talking about the bootcamp drivers that you download and burn on a disc? or are you upgrading your win7 install to win8?
-
Karamazovmm Overthinking? Always!
download the bootcamp drivers for win 7, install win 8, install the said bootcamp drivers -

I have a 8GB USB stick I created a month or so ago with Bootcamp on my Retina MacBook Pro. I used Windows 7 Ultimate x64 .ISO and the Bootcamp creation utility in OS X Mountain Lion to create the stick. There's a directory called WindowsSupport on the stick that contains all of the Apple drivers for Windows 7 and the supported Macs.
When I installed Windows 8 native, I wiped the entire SSD of my Mid 2012 MacBook Air using the Windows 8 Pro x64 Setup program. That includes the rescue partition for Mountain Lion.
Windows 8 Pro installed without issue. I then used Windows update to fix-up as many drivers as it could detect and fix. After that, I ran setup.exe from the WindowsSupport folder on the bootcamp stick. That fixed a number of issues including sound, backlit keyboard control, backlighting controls for the screen, etc.
The Windows 8 install was not an upgrade. It was a new clean install. -

What Mac are you trying to install to? Is this Bootcamp v4.0 that you are using? -

The Control Panel issue is widely reported and I'm sure will get fixed by Apple.
A mid 2007 machine is getting dated. I'm not sure I would bother trying to install Windows 8 on a mac from that timeframe. I would suggest making sure your firmware for the machine is current and check to see if it is supported by bootcamp 4.0.
Replacing the boot files from Windows 8 isn't advised. If that is the hassle you have to go through, is it really worth it? I think not. -
Yeah am ridding of this 2007 and will be buying 2008 2.6 version..
Windows 8 requires less HW so it is smooth but apple crippled cpu to half so i use throttle stop to run it with both cores.. and using luboos fan control.
Yeah this I wanted to know .. can you please tell me how do i check my current firmware? And how can i update?
Because earlier on i made usb flash drive and i couldn't boot any windows from it just cd works..,window just pops up : firmware didnt allow or dont support boot from this device something like that
But I have made usb but mac os x That works .. weird..
And when i inserted proper win 8 cd boot just hanged with that option in my first post so THAT IS WHY I used boot files from win 7..
Not big deal.. -

Why? It is unneeded with the modern Macs. I have no issues booting any of mine from a DVD (external drive) or USB stick using the .ISO directly off the MSDN subscriber download center. -
Oh yes it is jus tfor 2007, 2008 models ..
-
You can try download windows 8 from hard drive, it's very easy.
