I also tried to use the "option" key while restarting and it also does not work.
If I remember correctly, I think this happens after I updated my Mac OS X. I do not remember specifically which update (been travelling and have not use my MBP for a while).

Everytime I use bootcamp and chose "restart in Mac OS X", it always restart back to Vista. Also, when I tried to press "option" key while restarting, I saw the option to choose Mac partition but even after I chose it, it still restarting back in Vista.

    TIA

Try this it helped me.Zapping PRAM is simple, just reboot your Mac and hold down "Command(the Apple key)+Option(the Alt key)+P+R" while it is booting, when you hear the startup sound for the seond time the operation is complete, and you can release the key combination. Now just let your Mac boot as normal.

have you even tried shutting the machine completely down, powering it back up and booting up again that way while holding Alt, and see if that gives you better results.

it doesn't make any sense that booting to the Mac partition would take you too the vista install, are you sure you installed Vista on the right partition?

also, try booting up holding X, that will force a bootup into Mac OS X
