Hey I have been persuaded into getting a mbp vs getting an m1330. Heh my mother said she would pitch in only if I got the apple. So I think ima get the cheapest MBP since it still seems good for the money. I will also get the student discount with the freebies. My question is should I get any upgrades for it or will it be good enough as is. Also I plan to sell the free ipod on ebay which model and color do you think I should get to make my sell easier. I will probably get the crumpler sleeve for the notebook anything better I should look at. Switching to osx isnt that big of a deal for me since I hardly use windows as is since I've been using linux distros. Hmm anything else I should know? Thanks in advance.

Hey there, xDanx.
The cheapest MacBook Pro is already very powerful, and I would only get the higher MBP if you really need the 256 MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600 (the cheapest MBP has the 128 MB GeForce 8600). If you don't need the extra VRAM (as in, if you don't plan to play the latest games at highest settings or you don't plan to run graphics intensive applications (Photoshop is not graphics intensive)), the cheapest MacBook Pro is great.
I think the silver iPod Nanos sell the best (the black version would probably sell better if Apple allowed it on all versions). -
Thanks for the quick reply. One more question is it as easy to reformat and install osx leopard when it comes out compared to installing other windows and say ubuntu.

It is very simple to reinstall OS X. Just pop in the CDs that come with the Mac, click a few buttons and let it reinstall. When its done no activation necessary like Microsoft makes you do.
And when Leopard comes around you can choose to install over Tiger, so you install the new OS but keep your old applications and files. -

I was highly considering the MBP as well as Lenovo's x61 before I ordered the 1330. I've been visiting my student store at my university during my dilemma and played around w/ the MBP and I have to admit I fell in love fast (I used to heavily detest macs).
I stopped going to the mac section since my 1330 order went into the testing phase this week, but after going back to apple's site 2 nights ago and looking through the videos for the new leopard os, I've fallen in love all over again. My 1330 is in the boxing stage (and should have shipped according to a phone call I got from Dell but obviously hasn't yet). With each day now, I'm inching closer to the MBP and may pull the trigger on it this week and just ebay my 1330 or if it just stays stuck in the boxing stage, I'll just cancel it pick up the MBP. -
I intend to use Boot Camp to get Vista on the box, and VMWare's Fusion for VM-ing.
Changed mine from 1330 getting MBP couple questions!
