They managed to penetrate the aluminum, break the glass and get to the keyboard. Wonder how they managed that.

Tinderbox (UK) BAKED BEAN KING
Did they shoot it?
-
Dunno, I was thinking that but it didnt go through. Somebody at Fedex must be a Microsoft fanboy :S
-
Holly crap! Was your computer coming back from a repair center? That's brutal!
-
That was a nasty surprise. i hope apple will send you a replacement.
-
They surely hate you
-
We must form an Apple lynch mob and storm fedex HQ!!!!
-
I seriously hope (for your sake) that Apple with hit FedEx up for a replacement on this one.
-
i wouldnt hope for a replacement, i would demand a replacement obviously... it honestly looks like this thing got shot or stabbed on a spike... i would of been chasing the fexed truck down the road like a fat kid runnin after the ice-cream truck...
-
It's good that the OP is covered. Funny though, you certainly know when you're registered with too many forum sites when you see the same OP post the same thing on different forums. NBR and MacRumors. At least those 2 that I know of.
-
That is just the tip of the iceberg
Lol I only put on here and Macrumours as I was browsing both at the time my roommmate called me about this. I actually dont have the notebook in front of me. My roommate picked it up from the front desk at my dorm and call me about a hole in it. He then sent me pictures and lets just say I was not pleased -.-" -
-
Kidding of course.... Good luck with all the paperwork, investigation, etc etc you'll have to go through to get it repaired or replaced. It's just unfortunate! I've seen many boxes mutilated by UPS and/or FedEx delivery guys, but this is the worst! -
WOW
Macs getting shot at, it looks like a bullet went through the box. Now i have a reason to go buy in store. Next gen Macbook pro should be bulletproof lol. Good luck with the replacement. -
-
Wow that sucks. I've never been a big fan of Fedex anyways. UPS is so much better.
-
Look on the bright side, you'll now get a brand new latest generation UMBP.
-
in most places I've worked we pronounce UPS as "oops" cuz they mess up and trash stuff so often... I'd always pay double to use fedex over UPS... they have broken so much stuff I've seen when working closely with a shipping department at a place I used to work... And after making them switch to Fedex, everything was nicer from shipping, to damage, to just customer support... I don't know how anyone can stand UPS other than trying to save a buck.
even had a UPS driver before that had to bring us so much stuff on his truck, he packed too much in there and hes like "everyone stand back I'm opening it!" and he throws it open and boxes just poor out... and hes like throwing them around.... until i scream at him and tell him this is fragile computer equipment, then he was a bit ore careful... several things were actually broken from that shipment, and his manager didn't seem to understand what the problem was, because damage in shipment "just happens" Never seen fedex do anything like that, though no one/company is perfect. -
Perhaps you should switch to a ToughBook. Testing shows it still works after the screen has been shot with a 22 calber gun. But then it would be hard to work with as the dailey user.
LOL

I prefer FedEx and USPS over UPS anyday of the week. -
. Just like Mac and PC, they both have their plusses and minuses but I still prefer Fedex over UPS.
-
wow that really sucks, fed-ex better replace that for you.
-
im jealous. i wish fedex also broke mine.
-
Oh, that is some hardcore handling by some delivery guy......
lixuelai, hope you get things resolved. Good luck. -
You are going to have a very tough time collecting from anyone.
Once you or someone signed the receipt form for whoever delivered, it removes them from all responsibility for that package. Its yours any damage noticed after signing it tough luck. I never ever allow anyone to sign for anything of this value. I look at the package before signing and if there is a significant hole as yours I would be on the phone to whoever to talk to a manager before signing anything.
Opening the package also destroys any chance of proving mishandling, you opened it you could also have put the hole in it while doing (their logic).
All I can say is good luck arguing with them because you will need it to collect anything from them. -
Lol dont be so fatalistic. I won't have any problems getting a refund. I won't be collecting anything anyway. I am not Fedex's customer, the shipper is. Any claims has to be from the shipper. I have bought and sold stuff on Ebay long enough to know how to handle a shipping damage. Even if there was no insurance whatsoever I would still have a full refund. It is not getting the notebook that annoys me.
-
Thats good Im coming from personal experience with a major online retailer. Package they sent was undamaged on the outside but once I opened it up the thing was in pieces. Turned out the shipping dept. smashed it in packaging and just sent it out as is. Took almost a year to clear it up.
-
That's Michael Dell telling you.
Dude, you're getting a dell. -
Yea if you bought something from Ebay then your covered. Its amazing how much Paypal protects the buyers. Moreso then if you were to buy something from a online website.
-
This makes me nervous; my new 24" iMac has shipped and it's with FedEx.
-
wasnt fedex imo
the puncture hole is straight in box to the foam yet the notebook has a scratch leading up to hole which looks shape of a flat head screwdriver and then the scratch would could have been caused by a failed attempt to damage the notebook.. -
-
Or the seller who damaged it the minute before he shipped it, on accident or purpose who know.s
-
Whoa damn, how the heck did that happen?!!
I thought that Macs were invincible, and just worked... -
-
-
But I did see a person snap a MacBook Air in half on Youtube. That was pretty good. -
I didn't realize that this was an eBay purchase. As mentioned before, this could be a way to sell a dead laptop and recover the cost from the shipping co. Who knows?
Either way, good luck with the recovery! -
Just because something has less problems, doesn't mean it has no problems, or is nuclear bomb proof. -
-
thats why Obama and Medvedev use macs
Check out what Fedex did to my MBP
