...and I have to say I was impressed. This is actually the first Nano that I've really liked. The first two generations, the screen was too small for my taste. The third-gen... too short and squat, didn't like split-screen interface, Cover Flow too laggy to be worth using.
All that's fixed now. Cover Flow works great on the new Nano. Also, album art shows up large on the now-playing screen... nearly full-screen (like on the Zune). I think they're using larger type due to the vertically-oriented screen, making things a bit easier to read. Really small and light and the curved design is pretty nice IMO. And they have the 16gb option, and lots of color options. I think they did well this time.

i m going to buy one in october

Its pretty cool, but its got some issues. The accelerometer is pretty much counterproductive and is a nuisance in actual use. Video battery isn't so great, and the 2" screen is still completely worthless for video.

Looks okay to me.. i still preffer the 2nd gen for some reason
-
old school :O

nanos > touch?
anyone agree? -
Sorry pkja1, I love my touch and believe it blows away the nano, especially since the new model has a closer pricetag.
-
For video, touch > nano for obvious reasons. And then there's the wi-fi web browser too... -

zune>nano
.any way i like the new interface and curvy ness of it
-
I like the new nano, the brushed aluminum back stops (reduces) the scratches I guess, my 3rd gen looks like it's been hit with sandpaper

Classic>All
Idk if it's just me but I like the old clunkers ability to let me have all seasons of; till death, How I met your mother, all the gundam you can think of in one small device. Although once the touch hits 100-120 gbs and cant keep up with the 160's battery life, I'm switching. -
I don't like the Touch at all. I own an iPhone which I realize is basically the same thing, but whenever I see someone with a Touch I just see the pointlessness of it. You need to be on WiFi to get any real use out of it, or REALLY want to watch videos when you're out. The iPhone really is the best iPod Touch, and you have Internet anywhere, regardless of WiFi. I certainly wouldn't want to carry a phone AND an iPod Touch. But that's just one opinion, of course. The Nano I think is awesome.

I carry an iPhone without a data plan, which is essentially an iPod touch with free software updates and the whole "I can call people" bit.
Here's why I don't care about not having the data plan - everywhere I go has wifi, so on any given day, my 45 minute bus commute is the only time I would not have internet. Not such a big sacrifice to save $20 a month. And the iPhone plays games...its not just a video/web device. -

I got the new iPod Touch. It's a very cool device. Yes, it is pretty limited compared to the iPhone, especially the social networking aspect, as most of those apps rely on GPS type things to really work (tho my wifi at the house appears to be 'location aware'). I got the 32GB model, which is enough for all of my music and all the music I'm bound to download pretty much forever. The iPhone doesn't come with this much space.
I will say if the iPhone was available on Verizon it would have been an obvious buy. I've used Verizon for years and I've absolutely never had a problem with getting a signal. When I drove cross-country and never lost signal I was pretty impressed.
Unfortunately the Touch is proving a little too awkward for using at the gym. I had hoped to replace my Nano with it but now I'm not so sure. What I may end up doing is getting a new Nano for the gym, and then using the Touch for other purposes. I went 'warwalking' around my neighborhood the other day. I must have looked pretty silly.
Checked out the new iPod Nano today at the Apple store...
