    Converting AVI to ....iPod friendly?

    I have about 300GB of movies on one of my tera externals......

    what program do I need to get these movies (.avi's) on my iPod 160GB?

    And what exactly are we converting here? avi to what?

    iPod likes .mp4's I believe, there should be a lot of free software out there able to do it.

    and you can definitely do it with Quicktime Pro.

    Handbrake works...its usually a favourite. MoviesForMyPod is good too.

    What about Videora iPod Converter? Is there a version of it available for OS X? In Windows its a simple GUI where you just select your video files(avi or whatever extension) and it will convert them to mpeg4 or something, then automatically put them into iTunes. These converted videos will play on your iPod.

    VisualHub works as advertised. Roxio Popcorn will also get the job done. Note: You cannot convert .avi with HandBrake.

    There are tons of very good programs, many free, some pay. I use Handbrake, it is pretty easy and fast enough, although there may be faster options.
