As the topic suggest. I need to import some LP's to digital format. At one time I had a program that allowed me to filter out any hiss or noise without degrading the recording. But sadly I can not find that program now. So is there any filters that come with GarageBand or can be added to do this. Or any other application that will work with a mac.
I need to import 100+ LP's. I will be using a preamp to take the phono players output directly into my MBP.

I would recomend using Audacity.
Fantastic freeware editing program with some very tunable filters. I don't think garageband will be specific enough for your needs.
Do yourself a favor:
Import the songs at 192 or 96 kHz ans 24 bit, then filter. Then, export your .flac's or apple lossless (or mp3's) at 44.1 kHz / 16 bit.
This little bit of extra work will allow you to filter out the noise more precisely while destroying as little of the song as possible. Obviously, sometimes you will have to compromise, but the lower the resolution of your image, the more destructive your filter is going to be. -

Thanks for the recommendation. Will give it a try...
Edit:
I gave it a go. Very Very Good, Was exactly what I was looking for. -
