Hi,
Unfortunately the internal keyboard and mouse on my MBP seem to have packed up for good. Fortunately, I can still use a USB keyboard and mouse.
Is there any way I can copy the entire contents of the hard disk onto an external USB hard disk (everything so that I don't lose desktop icons, filing structure e.t.c.) and then restore it when I get a new machine?
Many thanks,
Froskoy

You sure can.
There's a program called Carbon Copy Cloner that will copy the ENITRE Hard drive onto a new one, OS and all.

Yes, I am sure there is, but give me a minute to find the solution. I remember doing it before...
EDIT
BAH! NO GLORY FOR ME! =(. Colton beat me to it. -
Great! Thanks very much for the fast and brilliant response.
And when you get the new machine, presumably it will restore it for you?
Even better, it's free!
Thanks again (rep given). -

When you use Carbon Copy Cloner, it will make it look just like your old Hard drive on your new hard drive, making it seem like you never even switched them but now you have the upgraded HDD. You won't need to restore it, as it will be just as the old one.
Thanks for the rep, it's always appreciated!
