Hey there, I have a razer deathadder connected to my MBP via USB. This mouse is a windows gaming mouse, but my friend has it on his mac which runs it fine and its smooth. On my mac desktop however, my mouse movement is choppy. Every few seconds it skips like a cetimeter or two and the movement is defintely not as smooth as it is in Windows through bootcamp.

Again I emphasize, in boot camp, the mouse movement is MUCH smoother. Does anyone have any sugestions?

Hmm... try adjusting the tracking speed in the settings? I don't know why it would do that though... I used a Razer and it's smooth in both OS X and Windows...

Hey, thanks for the reply! I have tried every tracking setting from slow to high and its still jumpy, however when I switch over to windows through boot camp, its as smooth as an icerink. Any other suggestions? I really want to get this fixed because its bugging me in photoshop.

Is your wireless searching for a network while this happens?

*edit: I am sorry for the confusion, but after turning off all forms of internet my cursor is still jumpy. This is SO annoying in photoshop ARG, I will try a different mouse and see what happens.

Silly question here but have you tried both/all USB ports? Also have you tried changing the surface on which the mouse is on? Reaching here, I know.

Yes I have tried plugging it in a different usb port and it is still jumpy, I used a different mousepad as well, still jumpy :( USB overdrive did not solve the problem as well. I plugged in a different mouse however and it was super smooth, maybe its the mouse? But that cant be because in windows this mouse is VERY smooth

OSX to me doesnt have good mouse drivers or something.

I've heard other people complain about bluetooth lag when in osx, and in windows theres no lag at all no matter the cpu usage. For me if im using my cpu a lot, my bluetooth mouse isnt as smooth.

Though I dont know what to do, Have you tried any other mice to see if they skip too? (I have two razer mice and theyre fine for me >_>)

I've had success using Steer Mouse. Unfortunately it costs $20 for a license for it past 30 days. Google for it and try it out.

Just a question, but what exactly does steermouse do that makes the mouse function better?

It allows you to tweak the acceleration and tracking speed for the mouse. I'm wondering why Apple doesn't address this issue that many seem to be having... My guess is that they only built there drivers to support the Mighty Mouse and nothing else.

If you have a Logitech mouse, you could try out the Set Point drivers they have for Mac OSX. Those might help.

Alright well i tried steermouse and every possible combination in the steermouse but its still jumpy and some settings make it even more chopy!

I plugged in a logitech gaming mouse and it works great! Its this razer mouse I am using, but that is SO WEIRD, in windows vista my razer works great and is super smooth and accurate. ARG

Yea i doubt steer mouse would help with jerikness or what have you.
Razer is pretty good with RMA'ing, you can say that it is jerky al the time and they should send you out a new one.

I have the same issue. Had a thread about it myself. I noticed that on vista if you go to mouse settings there is a thing called "Enhance Pointer Precision" which makes the mouse basically work perfect and at the same time you can adjust the speed of your movement. Thats why it works perfect on vista. Xp also works perfect. As far as I know mac doesnt have that which makes the mouse response late which I cant stand. It really makes it hard to edit things like videos and pictures. If you try to take the precision off on vista it makes the mouse a little jumpy and imperfect like mac. Go ahead and try it and see.

I left a complaint/improvement point on the apple feedback and I suggest you guys do the same so that they address it. Make sure you put all the right information.

Edit: Dont use steermouse and USBoverdrive. They both suck. Trust me. I tried both and all they do is enhance the speed which is definately what you dont want. If you dont take my word for it you can try it. I myself have the mighty mouse wireless in case you are wondering.

Thanks ItsDaKronic I love the switch to Apple, but it is bad how Apple can not address such a simple thing as USB mouse stability. If you guys think its just me, its not. The apple discussions forum have tons of posts just like these.

Yes, there are tons of mac support sites with complaints about the mouse but none of them have a real solution. I guess only apple can take care of this. :(
If I find a soultion though tianh I'll pm or post back here asap.
