I know that the SantaRosa macbooks only run at 667mhz on the ram. But, is it compatible with 800mhz ram? I'm assuming it will downclock.

yep, the memory down-clocks to 667 MHz. it should work on the MacBook without trouble.

Well....I am getting trouble. It won't boot with both DDR2 800 modules. It won't boot with a singe module either.

That being said, it will work with one DDR2 800 and one DDR2 667 module.

Would there be some trick to getting both modules to work?

    Thanks.

Maybe you just have a bad stick?
Did you try with just the other 800 stick?

Yes. Tried each stick individually, and the machine would not boot.

It would only work if one of those sticks was paired with a 667 module.

When you try the 800/667 pair, did the operating system report the whole amount of memory? I'm assuming you have the 1 GB stock plus one of your two 2 GB sticks, for a reading of 3 GB.

well I think you have answered your question by yourself here.

you should be able to get 667mhz ram at that same price or less.

I wish I had seen this thread earlier. I had the same problem with a pair of DDR2 800 DIMMs. The combo will not work on a Mac, but works fine on both a m1330 and T60. You have to have at least one slow DIMM in order to use the faster one.
