I tried searching this forum, Norton's website, and Google too, but apparently I can't find the answer as to how to remove this piece of crap from my MBP. Does anyone have any idea how to do it? Thanks.

Never used norton on my mac, I found it to be worse than a virus when I was running on my pc's, I eventually switched to avg and it was like I had a new computer all of a sudden.

    So delete it asap

oh and +1 for app cleaner... its free unlike app zapper.

Well, I heard tons of bad opinions about Norton AV. Stuff like it being overbloated, slow, and being worst than a virus itself. Anyway there aren't many viruses (if any) that target Leopard, so I figure I'd be pretty safe even without it. Even if there were viruses, I'd rather pick another AV program.

Norton is the worst anti virus ever. It it self is a virus. (at least I like to think so.)

I've used Norton Internet Security 2007 and 2008 and they are actually excellent products. Symantec has finally realized that people's complaints about bloat and performance may actually have some truth to them and actually rewrote Norton Antivirus for the 2007 version. I've found the 2008 version quite light with startup times even better than Zonealarm Suite with less problems like arbitrarily preventing some self-extracting zip files from running. I'm not sure if 2009 is better, but I'd certainly encourage people to keep an open mind about Norton Internet Security 2008 since the experience will likely be different than previous Norton products. This is the PC versions of course. I don't know if or when these new features will be incorporated in the Mac version.

To uninstall Symantec you should check in Applications if you have a Symantec Solutions folder and there should be an uninstaller in there. If you have the original .dmg image with the Symantec installer, I believe there is an uninstaller in there or the installer app has an uninstall button when you launch it.

re-wrote it for 2007? Then I guess it must of been even worse in previous versions, I had 2007 it totally messed our computer up when we tried to uninstall it because loading windows took 15 min and was bogging down our machine so much. It ended up corrupting Word we couldn't uninstall it completely because it embedded it's self into the system even the computer shop couldn't do anything so we just did a re-install. That's one of the reasons I switched to OS X. I don't care what they say I will never buy one of there products again.

Part of the problem with Norton products is that they install so many helper applications and processes that it bogs down the system and uninstalling can be a pain. They started addressing this in 2007, and really improved things in 2008. I think 2008 only uses 4 processes which is pretty good considering it's doing firewall, antivirus, etc, and certainly much better than before.

The trick to uninstalling PC Norton products, especially older Norton products, is actually not to use the default uninstaller. You should just download and use the "Norton Removal Tool". It's provided by Symantec and is much more thorough than the default uninstaller. That's the only thing I've used to uninstall Norton on Windows and I don't get funny startup problems.
