    Hi all, having taken the plunge and ordered my mbp, I've received the email saying it's been shipped to me but (hopefully you can help me make sense of this now) I can't really make head nor tail of the shipment status page on the apple site. I've pasted below the details in question and I'd just like to ask you gurus which date I should probably expect the machine to be delivered on ;

Estimated Delivery Date (Subject to change) 08 Mar 2009 (Subject to change)
Current Delivery Status In Transit to Customer - Shipment on Schedule 04 Mar 2009

My point is that the 08/03/09 is Sunday & the couriers don't deliver on Sundays here in the UK so should I be getting excited and expect it on 4th March or not?

    Hope you can help

    Cheers
    Rick

p.s. there's no delivery tracking number nor carrier stated but there is an Apple delivery reference number in addition to the order no. etc.

I had a pleasant surprise when I ordered mobileme and a tv tuner yesterday and was told that they would arrive on Wed. 04/03/09 and they actually turned up today - the last time I checked that order last night again there was no courier or tracking number assigned - now looking at it there is but that's irrelevant as the items have already arrived with me.

So you don't know which of the two dates I should be looking at then?

I think it would be the first one, because as you said the delivery date on the second one would be a Sunday, and the mail doesn't get delivered on Sundays... Thursday would sound like a reasonable date, considering that's what the estimated delivery date is.. ;)

Erm so you think the 4th March is the most likely delivery date then?

I'd say the 8th, because there should be a semi-colon in between the "Current Delivery Status" and the "In Transit to Customer". I'm not sure, but don't they ship it to the closest Apple store, and then they send it out? I heard that somewhere, but don't know the validity of it. So I think it's going to be the 8th...

Thanks for that mate, but the 8th is a Sunday, that's what I was querying.
    Thankyou anyway.

Ohh, the 8th is Sunday! I missed that part. I thought you meant the 4th would be sunday... My bad on that one. Then it might be on Monday, the 9th. I've had that happen to me in the US, where they would say it was going to be delivered on (for arguement's sake) the 20th, which was a Sunday. Well the Post Office would hold it for the next delivery day, which would be the day after that. But I'm not sure how they do that in the U.K. ;)

Rick, your best bet would be to contact Apple directly and ask them. Generally, Apple's estimated delivery date is correct +/- 1 day.

Mate, I rang them yesterday and they told me the 9th, but just half an hour ago I checked the order tracker and it's coming tomorrow!! Wooooohooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't wait, but equally as it's my first mac I'm so nervous about the switch from windows!
I need to phone Apple tech support tomorrow about my other post on here ref. syncing the pc & the mbp for email/contacts/calendar as imap isn't going to cover me for the latter two. I've bought a copy from Apple of mobileme family pack but I'm not sure if this is the right solution either as (unless I'm even more stupid than I think I am) it looks like I've got to set up some ".me" email addresses to use that and check email from them - but as I say maybe I've got that wrong! If anyone else has successfully set up a p.c./mac synchronization regime I'd be interested to know the ins and outs.

    Cheers
    Rick
