Well I've been a stupid Powerbook owner, I've not been quite as careful as I should have, and now my system is dented, on the top, and near the power plug. Unfortunately this aint covered by Apple Care. So I was wondering what's the cheapest way to get these fixed.

If you caused the damage yourself, then it's not covered by the Apple warranty - it's only if your notebook's internal parts die on their own you can claim a repair. I really don't know how to remove a dent from a notebook - how big is it? You might try a car dent removal kit if anything, but I would be care if you choose to do so. It sounds like you damaged the screen when you dented your notebook as well, which could cost you a pretty penny to fix.

This actually showed up after the dents, and they're not huge, just annoying. I think id have to replace the actual part to fix it.

Aluminum is still more durable than plastic - plastic would probably shatter if it got "dented".

Yeah but it wouldn't cost 250 bucks to replace.

Question. Has anyone used this website www.safeware.com, I want to know how it works.

I haven't heard of them - I don't know how reputable they'd be. You might try getting insurance through your Homeowners Insurance or Apartment Insurance if you live in an Apartment and see what they cover.

Well my parents have home owners insurance but I dont think it covers those type of things, so I was hoping I could buy that insurance from www.safeware.com, and then report a claim to get it fixed, since it would cost upwards of a grand to fix.

Uh, I don't think you can do that. On a grander scale, it would be like having your home insured after being through a fire, and you trying to have the insurance company cover fire damage. Since you weren't under their protection plan when your notebook was damaged, they probably won't cover your notebook's dent.

I'm not an attorney, but would bet that would be insurance fraud if you claimed the accident happened after purchasing a policy. IMHO, wouldn't be worth risking the consequenses.

You might just have to get it fixed, or just leave it - as bmwrob said it's insurance fraud to try and get a company to fix your notebook before it was insured.

Yeah i know, I just wish it wasn't so **** expensive. I have to buy the part and then pay someone to install it. I'm scared I'd mess it up.
