    I think they did,

Besides all the differences between MB and XPS series, there is one similarity.

There is XPS M1330 and M1530 laptop and they look almost identical.
Now there is Macbook and Macbook Pro that almost looke like each other.

 Apple did copy something from Dell.

Yeah. Dell is the only manufacturer that has ever had two laptops that look the same. Apple totally stole that from them.

No, because Apple had 12," 15," and 17" PowerBook models with the same alu cases long ago.

The only difference is that now Apple doesn't call the 13" MB a "pro" model.

LOL. This thread is retardedly hilarious. Note to manufacturers - don't make two things that look the same in different sizes or incur the wrath of random forum members.

Seriously, the point of this thread is almost as terrible as the title. Almost.

Every manufacturer in every business has a similar look across their production line. Not only is it cheaper, but it gives you a brand identity.

If you folks look at the rear ends of the entry level Lexus (IS), Merc (C-CLass), Infiniti (G), and BMW (3), they all share somewhat similar trends.

This is the way that the market works.

Come to think of it, I think you're right. I mean, all cars have 4 tires. That's just one example. Why wouldn't computer manufacturer's copy each other too? I feel ripped off!

It is true that the MacBook and MacBook Pro now share the same design, when they previously didn't, but by no means is Dell nor Apple the first to have a lineup that has the same design...and as others noted, Apple has had a 12-inch, 15.4-inch and 17-inch PowerBook G4 before as well...

No, they took an idea from Mercedes.. and Audi.. and various speaker manufacturers.. and HP.. and, well, creating a distinct brand identity is not a new idea.

I thought Apple stole the ideas from USAF planes or was it the other way round i just could never remember.

The F22 and the X35 looked almost identical to some people.

Apple only started making laptops out of aluminum in the last few years.

Coke and Pepsi have been making soda cans out of aluminum for decades.

Hmm.. Apple is apparently stealing ideas.. from the soda industry.

(and the "oldest profession in the world" had the whole "multi touch" thing thousands of years ago)
