Hi all. Getting my macbook soon w00t.
The new macbook pro 2.4Ghz version.. Will probably do a review on it with the actual results from 3dmark etc..
I'm in Australia, going to order it online and use the education discount. Just wondering, All you have to do is click on "I accept", and you get the discounted store.. What happens when you pay for the notebook? Do they call and ask for some proof? I only have last years photo ID card but I have some papers that say when the course starts and when its due to finish etc.
We use macs at my multimedia course, so I pretty much know how to use one now![]()
Thats pretty much all that I can think of right now, If I have more questions I'll just come back and post them.. I was going to ask something but I forgot what it was =\
Oh yeah check this out, this guy has done a few reviews on his one, it boots up and ready to go in 20 seconds =\

In the US you have to select which University you attend before it takes you to the discounted store. I didn't get a phone call from Apple asking for proof, so I assume Apple will call the school, or they already have a database of students/schools that are eligable for the discount.
-
Not sure how they handle it online; usually it involves faxing a copy of your student ID or transcript that shows you're currently enrolled.
-
i only had to show my school ID, and if i didn't bring it i just have to show my self in facebook lol
as for online, after you choose the university...i had to log in using my school's account...i wouldn't know how they test High school tho lol -
Can you get student discount for being at "School"?
on the AUS site it says university students and TAFE students, I go to TAFE so yeah
(Tafe is sorta like mini college, hundreds of courses to do etc) -
-
Ah, yeah same here I guess
Well I'd better get it before my course finishes... Thats october the 1st -
weird, i bought my 1st ipod using my high school's info -_-;
-
hah nice
They don't give you any free stuff or anything here on the AUS store
If you check out those youtube video's.. that guy got lots of freebies and discounts.
Might just go to the apple store right near me and buy it..
Thanks for all the help guys, if I have more questions I'll just post here
Time to continue pan's labyrinth... Great movie -
When do they actually ask for any proof? I see nothing about it in the rebate form.

When I ordered my MBP up here in Canada, all I had to do was pick my university and enter my student number, then it directly took me to the discount store. Funny thing is, the first 4 digits are the same for all students and everytime I type those first 4 digits, then make up the rest of the student number it always works.
I didnt get a notice or letter or anything. So if anyone in Canada wants to use the discount and arent enrolled in a univeristy let me know.
Each student # is limited to only one mac computer per academic year, and unlimited ipods. -
in-store (i called ahead to ask) they required proof of enrollment, i just brought in my acceptance letter, barely looked at it and I was good to go
-
Or a registration letter, copy of payment receipt, etc.
They make it pretty easy, really.
-
Cool
Is online price same as store? I'm gonna go into the apple store near me and purchase from there -
I don't think they do then, since they assume that when you bought the machine I guess your student status was already verified. They don't need to see that when you are getting the free iPod, they just need the receipts and UPC code I guess.
Did he die?
