you are naive

apple is not reliable, i have already state it basing on my experience in some of the topic here.
many apples come to service, sometimes several times
unibody is better, prev. macbook pro generation is silly constructed laptop.
don't want mention plastic macbook, it is on the pair low budget acer. -
If you take care of a laptop, even a netbook will last you long >.>
Anything else is more likely than not either:
- manufacturing default(in which case it's pure dumb luck)
- your fault(in which case a warranty is in order)

Imac survives a fire

You're entitled to your opinion, even though it's wrong. I look at the glass as half full, instead of half empty. Sorry you see the world in a negative way.
I've had my Unibody MacBook since December of 2008 and have had no problems with it at all.
It all boils down to how you treat your equipment. If you don't give a rats a$$ then odds are it won't last you long at all. -
Your personal experience isn't the holy grail however and other peoples experiences differs greatly.
This can happen with ANY manufacturer, not just Apple.
You lost all credibility (not that you really had any to begin with) saying the polycarbonate MacBook is on par with a low budget Acer. You've obviously never owned, or even used one. -
Slightly OT but it reminds me of this old ad by marantz:

That is my observation regarding apple laptops, whether you like it or not
I have seen more than enough apple laptops to have my personal opinion.
I mean prev. generation of mackbook, still not enough time to say anything negative or positive about new mackbook. -
we need to put MBP in a fire to test to see if it lasts.
-
I volunteer yours!
-
You don't want to start down this road.
Not only is it anecdotal, but it only leads to the posting of legions of thinkpad/latitude videos, which still costs less than a comparable MBP. -
This thread has reached the end of it's life so it is now dead.
Do macbooks last a long time?
