My dock won't seem to hide, I've tried messing around with the settings for it to hide, but it won't minimize. I thought a restart might do the trick, however that didn't fix it. Can anyone give me any feedback as to how to fix my dock and why it's doing this? Thanks.

Time to trash the dock plist. Make sure you back the file up beforehand, because you will lose all your dock icons etc.

The file is located at ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.plist where ~ is your home directory.

just navigate to your Home(most likely your username)/Library/Preferences/ folder.

you will see a file called com.apple.dock.plist

move that file to your desktop (if you want to keep it to keep other settings intact) or, delete that file, it will automatically regenerate itself, it is the preference file of the Dock. that will most likely fix your problems.
