On Vista, if I want to scan something I simply go to Windows Fax & Scan, and literally press select the scan i want and press scan.
Can OSX Leopard do this? Cheers![]()
Today's the day I was planning to go to Apple.com and buy a new Macbook pro, and i'm having a few small worries. The cost, the fact that it's my first Mac ever, what if I hate it despite enjoying it when I went to the store to check one out for real etc....

When you connect a scanner to a Mac, Image Capture.app will run, which will provide you with scanning options and functionality. Not sure about fax, since I've never had to fax anything.

People still use faxes? Just scan and email.

I don't use fax, it's just the scan option I was interested in.
Thanks for the help! -
btw,I would advice you to get it from Amazon, since it is a)cheaper b)no taxes!

As Budding mentioned, Apple's Image Capture (in Applications) will connect to scanners. It does depend on the scanner, for example, it works best with Twain scanners. Other than that just use the scanning software that comes with your scanner, that's what I do for my Canon LIDE 50 scanner, I don't use Image Capture.
Also for faxing, in System Preferences you can set up faxing very easily in the Print&Fax setup, you can even use your bluetooth cell phone as a wireless modem.
Does OSX have any built in scanning tools, like Vista with "Windows Fax and Scan"?
