the one thing thats making me really want to get a macbook air is its light weight 13" with whopping 1440x900 resolution.

the one thing thats stopping me from getting one is the OS X. I guess I just cant live without windows.

ye, I know i can run bootcamp on it. but it just dont feel nature running windows on a Mac...not to mention its performance...

I just cant find a 13" laptop with 1440x900 other than MBA...whats up with that? I know all of you whoes getting a MBA must thought of that as well. any luck with you guys??

well there is a 15 and a 17" that politly beats the MBP hands down with an external monitor quality 30 bit IPS screen available ( Elitebook 8740W and Elitbok 8540W ) as for smaller screens the Sony Z has a comparable screen and one of the Lenovo units has a high quality AFFS screen that seems better as well, but the model number escapes me.

you will find higher resolution laptops in the busness lines from Dell, Lenovo and HP

The Lenovo X301 has the same screen size and resolution. This laptop came out 2 years ago. Stilll widely available although discontinued by Lenovo. I am surprised so few people know this. The contrast ratio on the macbook air screen is a lot better. But the keyboard is better on the X301 and it has integrated optical drive and built-in gigabit Ethernet and fingerprint reader.

    Sony Z 13.1" 1080P screen.

Screen quality isn't about resolution by the way, the reason why the MBA's screen is so good is incredible blacks, contrast, brightness etc. It's still a TN screen so it's not great in terms of accuracy or viewing angle, but there isn't anything better out there.

I guess I have no choice...
then again, I heard the new macbook pro will come out next year.
maybe I should wait and see.

I would wait and see if you can. Also wait for CES show in JAN to see what else in the PC world is on the near horizon.

I heard that the Dell XPS 15 has the best screen out there with 1080p.
