My 2.4 Ghz occasionally loses the correct time. I've messed around in System settings to no avail. Time zone setting is correct. What gives?
-
stealthsniper96 What Was I Thinkin'?
no problem like that on my MB
-
No probs that I've noticed ... although I've heard about possible issues with boot camp and virtual Windows...
-
Mine is 3 minutes slow for some reason. Or my cell phone is 3 minutes fast. I have had several phones that show the same time though, so I think it is the Mac.
**EDIT** Nevermind I fixed it! For some reason it was not set to set date and time automatically. Now it is correct. -
yeah im also getting this problem too, especially with bootcamp?
-
My is off by 4 hours. This occurs about once a week for me, but all I have to do is simply open the Date & Time window and it automatically switches..It's really weird.
-
I think it has something to do with bootcamp because mine is also off by 4 hours sometimes. Hopefully apple will fix this with leopard's bootcamp.
-
Mine's is always on time. I don't have Boot Camp though, maybe that's why its correct.
-
It is a problem with bootcamp or windows. I think this is what happens (not 100% sure but it would explain the what i see on my computer):
Windows (bootcamp) updates the bios clock (EFI clock) so that the bios time is set to the current time. Windows ignores the timezone and just sets it to 1pm when its 1pm EST (example).
Mac does it differently. It keeps the bios clock (EFI clock) to be in GMT and then adds or subtracts the timezone hours from the bios clock to get the system time.
So your time if fine when you have internet because then both windows and os x will update the time from the time server. But if you have no internet when you boot then I think it can get messed up. -
Wow this is random, I was just about to post a thread about the same problem. My MBP's clock is off by 4 hours everytime I go on after I'm in Windows, then once I open the date and time settings it automatically reverts to the correct time. Hopefully non beta Boot Camp will fix this?
-
Apparently Apple thinks this issue has been resolved. Though, even when connected to the Internet, sometimes I have to manually update/sync the clock. Not a huge deal, but I'd rather the clock just keep the correct time regardless of which operating system I choose to use and without an active connection.
Here is what Apple says in the Boot Camp Beta: Requirements, Installation, and Frequently Asked Questions:
-
Actually, the time problem only occurs in Mac OS X for me. I do have Bootcamp and Windows XP running, but the problem occurs exclusively on the Mac OS.
-
The problem happens in both os x and vista for me. The os that is set to the correct time is usually the one i was online with last.
-
Okay maybe this will work for you guys:
Go to configuration panel (system preferences for windows) go to date and time, and turn of 'internet time' or something like that.. my english isn't so well, my bad
-
Control Panel -- Date And Time -- Select "Internet Time" ?
-
Yes, it also happens to me after coming back from Windows (Bootcamp 1.3) and I have 'Set date and time automatically' checked. I have to open the system preference pane again to have it resynchronised.
Another annoying problem is that Finder goes awry after coming back from Windows (i.e. download file icon would not change from Safari download icon to its proper one upon completion) and I have to restart finder by Ctrl+Alt+Click finder icon.
These issues better be fixed when Leopard arrives. :-( -
Same problem here.. it annoys me. When Im studying at 1 in the morning its cleary not 9h00pm.
-
yep, same problem, but the advantages of having a dual-boot notebook FAR outweigh this minor annoyance. I can live with it (even if Leopard doesn't fix it).
-
This issue happens everytime after a restart to OS X from Windows XP for me, regardless if automatic time settings are set in preferences. Anyone with Leopard should update us if the new Bootcamp solves the issue.

Boot Camp Driver Changes from v1.4 Beta to 2.0 (Leopard 9a581) -
No 64-bit driver support either still
Ah well, as long as it doesn't break what I already have on the Windows side, I'm fine with it.
Does your MBP lose the correct time?
