I hope you guys dont get pissed at me but i think Apple customers are a little bit spoilt rotten when i see people complain about the gloss and the noise of the DVD drive which i found to be perfectly normal and acceptable. But then again i came from the PC side of things where we accept poor quality computers for a good price compared to an Apple of course.
On the other hand i do understand why you are pissed off because Apple love dictating on what you are allowed to have as their customers. They have completely gone out of their way to make Vista look bad (not because Vista is bad but merely due to the immature way Apple handles their competition with spite and jealousy).
For instance Apple Mac OSX has purposely tampered with the mouse settings under Vista to make it 10% working so that you will immaturely hate Vista. The mouse pad under Vista is totally useless i had to use a USB mouse to by pass Apple's childish behavior.
TSK naughty naughty Apple how about stop being a child and lets give us the fix for your lame mouse pad so we could use it with our beloved Vista?

you shouldn't get flamed for that valid issue. hope they resolve it.
besides that, two flamepoints: first: poor quality computers? i have had a lot of high quality computers for good price in the pc world.. and second: i've used nonglossy screens, i can't stand glossy ones..
-
Well true Apple's Glossy Screen could be the cause of poor eye sight failure due to having to turn on the screen brightness to very high setting so that the gloss would not stand out so much.

i haven't worked much with the current mac-line but just last night i had to use a glossy hp screen in my room, most lights down except the pc which had to make some firmware updates. the result: the glossy screen with the pdf explaining step by step how to do the update, barely readable due to the screen of the pc reflecting into it (and trough some other glasses in the room, too).
it was really annoying to read on it..
but the real thing to bash is the lack of options. some people don't want glossy screens (like me), but i can nearly not get a nonglossy one anymore anywhere (not just an apple problem). same as i can't stand too-widescreeny screens, and now get forced to 16:9 with all new ones.
sadsad.. -
I <3 You
lol.
-
Lol 16:9 is a huge problem for some i must admit even for me too.
-
let me say this so that people won't need to repeat it over...
people need to stop all the bashings, if you don't like the way apple do things, don't buy one
or
i hate people hijacking apple forum to say how bad they are
funny you use the word childish, i am more incline with tyrannic
the PC world dropped 16:10 rather quickly this time due to cost cutting, i've heard trimming it down to 16:9 cut down on the cost significantly -
lol trollanic obviously doesn't have a new generation macbook pro
-
I don't have a problem with 16:9.
But it does make it cost cheaper and able to advertise 17 or 18 incher at the same time. -

i do, as most programs go top-down.. webpages, word dokuments, programming.. lists (file lists, registry, etc..)
the only thing where it can be useful is for movie watching. but, having a 16:10 currently, the tiny borders on top and bottom don't hurt. and still they give more real screen estate.
the cheaper cost is not useful, it just means you get less pixels as well => cost stays the same. but yes, they can marked it as very big while it isn't. -
I have never heard about the cost difference of 16:10 (why not 8:5?) or 16:9, but I think it's good to have the 16:9. 16:10 seems to have been a random ratio to pick, while 16:9 has a reference as to the reason for having it.

16:10 is halfway between 4:3 and 16:9 => if you watch ordinary tv, that is 4:3 or 16:9, you get tiny borders on both, but no big borders on "the other format".
16:10 is as well nice to be able to have a full 16:9 image + top and bottom bar of your os.
but most of all, you have more pixels in height. as everything except movies is topdown, having more width is completely and utterly useless for most of the work one has to do. i don't like that they're really wide, too, as the width makes notebooks more or less usable in mobile situations (airplane, train). having a "high" notebook is no problem for your seat-neighbours.
in essence, the 11.1" notebook from a friend is 16:9, my 12" is 16:10. they have about the same width, but i have a much bigger screen than he has. -
Don't get mad at Apple for problems in vista, Mircosoft does the same thing for programs for Mac. Look at MSN Messenger for Mac.
-
Whilst the choice is yours, I really can't see the point in buying a Mac if you want to run Windows, because PCs are available for less money that are faster than a Mac. It sort of strikes me as like thinking "I need a new car" and buying a nice yacht, and then fitting wheels to it. You've got a lovely yacht, but it's not going to be a great car. And obviously, there will be teething problems.
In terms of the mouse pad issues, this is probably a Vista issue rather than anything else, I doubt that Vista drivers that truly allow it work as it should will be released, probably wait for Windows 7 which has all of the support for multi-touch anyway. -
Good point....but if its going to make it work with boot camp why not support drivers for vista?
-
It's Vista, it doesn't support it's self... Plus windows 7 is coming soon and so is Snow leopard witch will probably have updates for Vista.
-
except for the increase in durability of the new unibody design which is structurally better, i prefer the overall design from the older form, i hate glossy screen as it dictates where i can put my notebook, i dislike the smaller battery size as well and regardless of how people say about the supposed safer video card, it is only a speculation.
fsb increase is marginal, too
last but not least, price consideration, why get a 256mb when i can get a 512?
as for being a troll, either you need to read it again, or i am not making myself clear enough
oh, if the "buttonless" pad is so "buttonless" why make one that is so difficult to click on the top? that's a flaw apple need to fix cuz the larger usage pad surface is a nice design, next thing they need is to make it wider, and add a wacom stylus to it
-
how do you know that it was on purpose?
Dont flame me please but Apple Macbook Pro mouse pad is cheesing me right off the cliff ...
