Hi all, I'm taking a step out of the Alienware forums for a sec to start a thread on behalf of my girlfriend. She recently dropped her bag which had her 13" Macbook Pro in it. It was a drop of about 2 or 3 feet in an un-padded messenger bag, and didn't seem to do any terribly visible damage to the computer. However, afterword we've noticed that the computer seems to be unable to remember the date and time and wifi settings whenever it goes into sleep mode or is turned off. My first thought (the PC side of me speaking, of course :p ) was that the CMOS battery may have been knocked loose, but being that Macs don't use a BIOS system of any sort, it occurred to me that there probably isn't a CMOS battery in this thing. I've tried looking for other solutions but haven't come across any thus far.

So, any Mac techies care to help a fella' out here?

I dont believe the CMOS/EFI battery is user servicable. hopefully it is not a broken motherboard trace as they may try to charge you for a full motherboard replacement.

Just an update- her battery drained completely, and after recharging and restarting the computer it seems to be working fine. Problem solved I guess. Well I'll come back and update you guys if the problem comes back. I'm still not sure what it was, but I'm glad it's working now :p
