:) So I set up my new display, and I'm wondering if it is possible to either stretch the menu bar, or to duplicate it (which I prefer).

I've searched google and things already, but I can't find a way (which leads me to believe you can't...).

I wish it could duplicate be duplicated; I have created numerous threads on this topic in the past. The best that you can do is stretch it with UltraMon. Unfortunately this program is not free.

I thought Ultramon is only for Windows...?

:) I'm using a Mac. (Hence me posting this in the Mac sub section)

I don't think there is a way to extend, mirror or run dual menu bars or docks on another screen. This is a real pain in the ass for dual monitor users. I run dual monitors on my MBP and on my pc. Using Ultramon on the pc is brilliant. Not having such a facility on OSX is one of the only downsides I have had with OSX. The only thing I can find to allow any kind of menubar flexibililty is Dejamenu availalbe free here

You can extend the menu bar using a Matrox TripleHead2Go Digital as long as you are running two 1920x1200 monitors (won't work with two 30" monitors). You need the TripleHead2Go Digital (rather than the DualHead2Go Digital) since the triple is the only one with a dual-link DVI input. Check it out:

Edit: oops, just saw that the OP has a macbook (not a macbook pro). Your DVI out is only single-link, so your resolution options are less.

I'm assuming one of the monitors she is using is on the macbook. In which case it would only be 1280 x 800 resolution.

why would you want to duplicate the menubar?

you can easily rearrange the windows and the location of the menu bar right in the Display preferences/arrangement.

i really don't see why it would be useful to duplicate or extend it honestly.

I would want to duplicate because if I'm running Photoshop in monitor 1 and iTunes in monitor 2, than I need the menubar in monitor 1 for Photoshop's functions, however, if I go to monitor 2 and use iTunes, and need the menubar (Files, or changing something like viewing it differently), than if it was doubled, then it would be much easier than having to go back to Monitor 1 just to do that.

:p Did that make any sense..? x)

I know exactly what you mean, and like other users, its been a pain of OSX since day 1.

I didn't really like Dejamenu, although it does what its supposed to do, it was kinda something I didn't really like.

I just gave up, and I just use my larger monitor as a cloned display, and turn down the brightness of my MBP screen.

I was kind of surprised that they didn't include it as a feature when leopard came out, I was really looking forward to the chance of having it.
