Hi all
For a few days I'm getting duplicate(if I delete one - both deleted) mail messages in Main on MAC OS 10.6.2
I'm using pop gmail account and have 3 of them problem with only one of them. But I'm sure that I didn't modify any settings. What can be wrong?

on my iPhone and my Macbook Pro.. I often get double emails from gmail... but not all the time, just sometimes... its annoying. Maybe sometimes gmail is too slow in archiving the email and mail picks it up twice cuz of a slight change. I have no idea.

It is the POP system itself that is buggy. The POP protocol is glitchy and can totally cause double messages / missed messages depending on the circumstances.
Try IMAP, which actually works.
In fact, right when you launch and get the welcome to Mail prompt the first time, if you type your username (including @gmail.com) and password, Mail will automatically configure your client to work properly with gmail. -
the problem with IMAP... if you delete an email.. its GONE.. its deleted... in POP you can set it to archive instead of delete.

Not sure I see how that is a fault of IMAP. You could just as soon not delete messages via IMAP and archive them instead, no?

I'm talking about gmail archive feature... by default it never deletes anything, it auto archives for you by default... I'm saying the feature of gmail cannot be used with IMAP. Why should I have to handle it all manually?

ok, well. use pop?
the thing is, the pop protocol itself sucks and you will continue to get the double message / missed message problem.
deal with one or the other i suppose...
maybe someone else has a 3rd alternative that is better? -
I've used pop for many many many many years... and never saw this issue with anything except gmail. Never had missing mail either, just occasionally doubles come in.
Didn't ask for a fix, I was just telling the OP I had a problem with it too.
