Is it possible to enable S.M.A.R.T. on Western Digital Externals? I have a 500gb one and a 250gb but I can't figure out a way to enable this feature. Is it possible and if so, how would I do it? Also, if it's not possible on a mac, is it possible on windows? Thanks!

For winodws, you can only "enable" or view SMART data when it's connected through esata interface. USB/Firewire doesn't support SMART data transfers, at least on most of the external drives. Since there's no esata port on a Mac, it's not possible.

Never seen a person type "aboot" like they pronounce it in canadia!

BTW, there's no such thing as "Canadian" accent. The country is multicultural thus they have multiple "Canadian" accent. -

S.M.A.R.T. has to be enabled by the bios. Most likely not going to happen.

I could let you get away with the line "saying someone has a Canadian accent is not absolutely specific", but saying "there is no such thing as a Canadian accent" is just ridiculous. And I personally think it was plenty specific, because I definitely knew aboot the precise referenced accent. -

Alright... I'll revised my statement to make it better. "Canadian speak English with many different types of Accents from everywhere around the world"

Well I guess this will be the last time I type aboot.

I think we should stop talking aboot it.
