So I think I might be having some issues.

Every now and then my macbook pro's screen will flash on and off, and when I'm scrolling webpages there is a significant amount of screen tearing. Does this mean I have a bad gpu? Should I take it back to the apple store? This happens on the 9400m. I'll see how things are on the 9600gt.

In the meantime, have other people experienced this?

I've been on the 9600gt all day and I haven't had any issues. For the most part I'll be using the 9400m and I don't want it to die on me when I'm working on a paper or during a presentation... Should I call Apple? Any other insights?

It might not hurt to atleast call Apple and see what they say.

It could be the power management scheme reducing the performance of the graphics chip to provide better battery life. Did you try the 'Normal' or 'Better Performance' scheme?
