Okay so I was a windows user before this and all of my photos have been edited with a title, keywords, and notes using the Right Click > Properties > Summary tab in windows. I am 95% sure this embeds the information into the exif data. Is there anyway to continue to do this with OS X or to search this with OS X?

I have found a few programs out there like ExifTool by Phil Harvey but it is a command line program that I am just scared of and then I just ran across MacMetaMod which looks promising....

Anyone do anything similar to this? Thoughts / ideas / suggestions?

I'm afraid you wont get any answers. Coming from programming I'm used to command line programs ( I love them ), they're not hard to use. You should have a readme, or atleast a help forum somewhere so you can learn what the commands are.
I say just go for it! Back up your pics and give it a try, it couldn't hurt! :)

no idea what most of that is since I dont do anything with pictures...

I do have a little app i downloaded for free called Reveal that lets you see a lot of details about a picture, including the camera used to take it and stuff...

how about trying CrossOver then running an exif editor from windows? i will have a go this weekend myself if i get some time. i am also looking for solution so keep us posted.
guys, 'I'm afraid you wont get any answers' and 'no idea what most of that is since I dont do anything with pictures' does not help anyone, but it does increase your post count.

Coming from someone who has 127 posts... you've been a really big help here in the forums I see... I'd much rather give the best answer I can, than make a person feel like he's being ignored here and not getting any help for his problem.

You should have stuck with the Crossover bit and stopped trying to berate the other posters because you didn't like what they said, or more obviously did not read all of what they said.

I have never tried anything with crossover but will check into it. I have Phil's program installed but need to take the time to sit down and play with it. I think it will take me making a cheet sheet for a while but I still haven't figured out if it can do what I want it too. My goal is to edite these fields:

Right now I am just processing my photos using Windows XP installed through Fusion. Gets the job done but it would be more convient if I could simply do this little step in OS X.

ok, so moving on from the ing........
i have used an editor some time ago called ExifPro, for extracting co-ordinate data from photos when out mountaining biking. i tried it and it works ok in os x under CrossOver. bad news is CrossOver is $40 (worth it for me as i have so many windows progs) and ExifPro was about $20 (but works fully even if you dont register), so quite expensive solution. but depends on your needs. not used Fusion but maybe that would that run under CrosFire? ignore, just realised what fusion is

not sure I don't actually have that program. I have the A better finder and renamer, from the same place.
I saw this other one when I was visiting it earlier today and remembered this thread. So my apologies if it does do all the stuff u need.

Okay so I found out that what I am looking for isn't in the exif data, it is in the IPTC data. Upon a recommendation I downloaded Graphics Converter and it has an IPTC data window that lets me edit what I need. The link is here:

    http://www.lemkesoft.com/

I might try to find a smaller program to let me edit the IPTC data but Graphics Converter works for now.

Actually Graphics converter won't let me edite the IPTC data just look at it (and it is there). I am still looking for a program to edite and search IPTC data for a mac but atleast now I am on the right path.

Anyone know how to make the search in the top right do this? I heard in OS X 10.4 I could do it but I haven't been able to this with Leopard...
