    Hey Guys

I have an external HD, that i store things on for backup (ie. mp3's, etc)

So here is the problem, and please dont laugh... lol, i have already done that to myself...

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to make this hd a read/ write drive. It always worked before, and now it just stopped working.

I did go to info and it said this was read only, and also i went and checked, and the hdd is MS-DOS(fat) formatted.

    Please help, thanks..

I need to move files over, before i take it to apple for service.

    what error are you getting?

The drives normally say you can only read.

Fat filesystem has no rights. It seems there would be another problem. So copy the files over you want to backup and format the disk again using the disk utility. You could also try first to hook it up on a windows machine to see what result that gives.
