I was curious as if to maybe future revisions of the 15" MPB will get the extra USB port and Firewire 800 thats in the 17" models.
Isn't it strange that the 15" only has 2 USB ports? Every PC 15" notebook I've seen has at least 4, same goes for the 17" MPB.

They may add the FW800 Port and take away the FW400 to the MBP 15" with the Merom update since the PowerBook had it, but I dobut they'll add an extra USB to - its typical Apple fashion to only have 2 USB Ports on their 15" and smaller models. The 17" is another thing though - they may or may not add the USB Port, although it is safe to say that nothing will change, port wise.

i think the use of less usb ports comes from the standard bluetooth. They would expect you to use a bluetooth mouse and keyboard instead of usb ones, in which case those ports are still open for periphs.

I have one FW800 for one of our 3.5" HD enclosures, but everything else, like our video camera, are all FW400.

I really don't think Apple is going to change their port design at all - I was just throwing my thoughts on what Apple might do.
