Hi
Do you guys know of any programs that could extract audio files from mp4s?
Thank you very much.

hrm... handbrake might work as well.

you should be able to bring a .mp4 into iMovie, and simply export the audio only.
it is even simpler with something like quicktime pro, because you don't have to deal with any project files importing etc. -
QuickTime Pro --> File --> Export. Then choose Sound to AIFF/AU/WAVE.
It's a bit convoluted to do this in iMovie 08. First you need to import the movie. File --> Import Movie. Then you need to select all of the clips and Command-Shift-Drag the icons into the Project Window (upper right pane). Then select from the iMovie Menu Bar Share --> Export Using QuickTime. Finally choose Sound to AIFF/AU/WAVE.
You still need to import the movie in iMovie 06, but then I think all you need to do is choose Advanced --> Export. And configure your options.
Handbrake does not support .mp4 as the source.

well. garbage in, garbage out. nothing you can do about it except to buy the CD and support the artist in the process.

and on another note, I have used nearly every major mainstream audio package, Logic Studio, Pro Tools, Audition (which is receiving a significant update but no support for Mac yet it seems), and Soundbooth, among others.
I find in terms of working with individual files, soundbooth works incredibly well, it has much less features compared to the others mentioned, and the other packages are just as capable, but in terms of ease of use and focus on editing single files it is hard to beat Soundbooth for those specific instances.
you can also do some basic in/out editing with Quicktime pro, which can be very useful as well. -
i am dling the free MIT lectures from youtube
