I was just wondering since battery life is lower on an MBP running vista, and the MBP is one big heat sink, is there an alternative to SMCfan for vista that works with the MBP? And what is power management like on vista for he MBP? I think i"m finally going to break and get one :(

I'm not sure about the fan control for Windows, but you don't really need it. The computer is fitted with sensors and when needed, the fans will kick in by themselves to cool down the components.

The battery life is awful though (in Windows)...
Doesn't even scratch the surface of OS X.

Yes it does get hotter in Windows than in OS X.

Crap. Is there any way to control the fan speeds in Vista with a 3rd party program?

Probably not. However, you really shouldn't worry. The system that controls the fans is separate from the computer, which is why it would be hard to make a windows fan controller. This means regardless of the OS in control the computer will cool itself.
I run vista all the time on mine, and it doesn't get that much warmer. It would be uncomfortable on your lap, but it doesn't get warm enough to cause damage to the unit itself. If your worried, getting a laptop cooler can help. As for battery life, heh, its not great on windows at all.
