For some reason, my computer temperature is running at 55-58 degrees celsius but the fans are at 6000 rpms! Is there any way to turn the fans down? I'm only running Safari, Mail, Vienna, Adium, iTunes, iPulse and quicksilver with 2 gigs of ram, using up around 5-10% of the CPU![]()
This is a C2D Macbook Pro bought from back in October

Is this a new issue or has this always been the case. I use iStat pro to follow temps but weren't there some heat issues with the older cd MBPs?
-
IBMac, was it difficult to upgrade the Mac Mini to 2GB?
-
I get the same thing sometimes, but only when I have many apps open, even then it rarely happens. Everytime it does happen it gradually gets back down to the normal speed which is about 2000 rpms for mine.

I get that once in a while, but the temp is usually rather high when it happens. If it is constantly spinning that fast you probably have an issue and need to take it in. If not, then the computer just got hot.
-
I get this once in a while too. Check your Activity Monitor to see what program is taking up all the CPU resource. Also, make sure you're using your laptop in a ventilated area.

Don't be afraid, as long as the fans slow down after a while then you're in the safe zone. I remember the first time my MBP's fans went crazy. I was encoding a video to H264 on FCP. I was mortified, but then after a while I got used to it.

Why is your fan going crazy? I had my macbook pro sitting in my car (backseat) at the beach on a 70+F day and its fans didn't go crazy....(it was on hibernate)

So at what temperature should I start worrying about my Macbook Pro? 66 degrees Celsius? 70?
-
Well, mine's is a MacBook, so slightly different, but my fans run at under 2000 RPM as long as its under 60 C. If it reaches 70 C my fans start speeding up, to about 4000 RPM. The fastest I've reached my fans was 4500 RPM, when the CPU was at 75 C (running benchmark tests).
Fans going crazy!
