The interface is Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) and not SATA or IDE so I assume it won't work...

Actually it is SATA, Its a SCSI interface that uses SATA connectors. Hence the name SAS Drives (Serial Attached SCSI) serial is the Sata interface. (Serial ATA drives i.e. SATA)

Its 15mm tall so it wont physically fit since most laptops can only take up to a 9.5mm(height) hdd.

I hope you realize that we have gone over this subject many times.
ALL 10k+ rpm 2.5" drives are NOT for notebooks.
They were designed and sold for slimline servers/workstations. Thats it. -
