I have been using firefox for quite some time and never had issues with it. Over the past week I have problems with it timing out. I completely removed it using appdelete. I had it delete everything associated with firefox including preferences.

I then re-downloaded the latest firefox 3 and installed it. I am still having the same problem. I did not install any extensions or plugins. However some of the plugins are still there.

Is there anything else that could be causing this problem? Anything else I could reset that would solve this issue?

While a link is loading in firefox I can open up safari copy and past the link into it and load it up before firefox is done sometimes. Other times firefox opens them up right away.

Hey Passive101. I've never had that problem on mine (mainly an Opera user though) but could you try Minefield. Its a modified FF3 from a longtime FF modder. Just to see if it does the same as the standard version of FF3 on your system. If it does it might be a giveaway to a remaining shared library file causing it. Link below

Shared library file? How do I get rid of that or fix it? Safari works 100% fine every time.

Firefox is sparatic even after removing it with app delete. Is there a better program to remove a program?

I assume (please don't kill me if I'm wrong) that FF shares files with others for various reasons. I usually use cleanapp to remove all library and plist files from my system. I'm always worried I might remove something I shouldn't but cleanapp is nice cause it shows you everything. I'm not sure how it compares to appdelete. Maybe run the 2 and compare the files they see. You can get it here.

Are all pages timing out or just some of them. And if so after how long roughly?

Hey Passive I googled and others had similar problems. One guy posted this

1 Open a new tab, and goto: about:config
2 Do not fear the dragons and click "I'll be careful, I promise!"
3 Search for the value: network.http.keep-alive
4 Right click on this value and click "toggle" to change it to false
    5 Then restart FireFox

Can you try that before removing FF.
    It came from here

It is only sometimes. Which is very strange. Some sites will load right away. Other times the same sight will time out.

The part that is strange as there have been 0 updates for it. I have been running 3.0.1 for some time with no issues with this.

It actually sounds like it might be a cache issue. I have seen some strange behaviour using Opera 9.5 on sites like Engadget. Sometimes and only sometimes I refresh the page and it reloads displaying the same old story even though the site has been updated since then. If i dump the cache it solves it, but I keep having to do it as Opera keeps rebuilding it after a while. Yours on FF3 may be having difficulty after a period of time. Try clearing the cache and maybe even the 'private data' under the privacy tab in preferences.

I cleared all the data and it's still not working.
