I just got a firmware update "Keyboard Firmaware Update 1.0"
It says: "This MacBook and MacBook Pro firmware update addresses an issue where the first key press may be ignored if the computer has been sitting idle. It also addresses some other issues.
The update package will install an updater application into the Applications/Utilities folder and will launch it automatically. Please follow the instructions in the updater application to complete the update process."
So far so good, for me.

Very nice, about time.
-
Thanks for the heads up! That problem was getting really annoying....
-
Where did you get it? It isn't showing up under update.
-
Try Software Update again. I just did it and it found it.
-
Well I still don't see it under update but I found a mirror to it. It says I'm already up to date.
-
Hmmm... that's kind of odd.....
-
You may have gotten it with 10.5.2 if you updated a bit late. Are you still experiencing problems?

<noparse>MacBook</noparse>, <noparse>MacBook</noparse> Pro Keyboard Firmware Update 1.0
This <noparse>MacBook</noparse> and <noparse>MacBook</noparse> Pro firmware update addresses an issue where the first key press may be ignored if the computer has been sitting idle. -
Well my keyboard doesn't except the 1st input, or the 2nd, 3rd, 4th...
Actually my keyboard and trackpad are pretty much completely dead now. I'm getting the top case assembly replaced again and hopefully this finally solves my problem. -
This did not come in 10.5.2.
It's a firmware update, so, it happens differently then the OS update.
Hope it works. This issue was definitely a little annoying. -
Mine didn't have to be idle. I could be switching fields or program and it would not enter the first key pushed.
It wasn't just annoying, but unusable in a business setting. -
I wonder why some people have this issue and others don't? I've NEVER had this problem....
-
Mine would do the same, but hopefully this patch will still fix the problem. I'm a happy puppy right now, hehe.

2nd the fact that i never had the problem. notably, the keyboard still works after the firmware update.
-
I just updated my MBP's keyboard firmware and it went smoothly. Even better, I didn't have to reboot.
-
glad to here this is fixing the issue for some people, the update didn't install automatically for me , just make sure to find it in your Utilities folder and run it, and follow the onscreen instructions.
-
Hmm....I see to be having the issue, still. It happened to me three times tonight--once in firefox, once in safari, and once in spotlight.
