Hey,
I'm going to be buying my first mac tomorrow and was wondering if I go to the mac store will I still get my free ipod touch with it for being a student? Or is this an online only deal?
-
I believe you can purchase it at the Apple Store and still get the free ipod promotion.

Keep in mind that it's not "free," per se. You have to buy the ipod and fill out / send in the rebate paperwork.
Now, if only I hadn't bought my MBP only 2 months ago..... -

"free with a rebate"
you will need the cash to pay for it all -
Unless you, like me, live in Connecticut or Rhode Island, in which case it's an instant discount. =D There are SOME advantages to living in the Land of Liberals!

Wow, this seems like a great deal. On the Canadian site, student price is 1299, and you get the free touch (pay up front, then get refund via mail in rebate). Figure if i sell the touch, I'll essentially only pay about 1100 + tax Can. for the macbook. Sweet.

This is a great deal for students, parents of students or faculty. You have to mail in the UPC from both the MBP and iPod boxes but they now have an option to direct deposit the rebate instead of sending out a check which is a lot faster.

It would be cool if they just gave it to you right in the store for no charge.

I just did this actually. Bought up a 2.53Ghz 13" MBP w/iPod Touch 8GB. They give you a flyer to go to the apple website. Anyway if you purchase online or at an Apple store its super easy. Just fill in your receipt info and that's it. Nothing to mail in!
-
Just make sure when you purchase, everything is on the same receipt. It makes the entire rebate process so much easier.
-
Also, they hope that some customers will forget to complete the rebate forms, so that's profit right there.
