I have two girls, aged 5 and 7. Do any of you have some recommendations on some good games for the mac (leopard)? Also, any recommendations for educational software that works well under leopard (Kindergarten and grade 2/3)?

    Thanks.

call of duty is the single game they need

hand/eye coordination, tactical skills, and a patriotic spirit(or terrorist if that's their intend :p)

they would learn how easy it is to die and what is to be required when terrorist attack happens unexpected...

bottomline: play with guidance, and don't get them a gun(real)

ps. mathematical games are always good, conceptually math is difficult
or you might teach the calculus from day one as i find them to be vastly differ from the silly math taught before.

economic is not the subject right now as no one has a clue

or just get them a NDS each with the brain trainer game

I say World of Warcraft. They don't need to work or do vigorous schoolwork yet. Perfect time to get em hooked. And then blow away their classmates with WoW speak. "Hey, so last night I did a SSC raid and I got the most epic purple drop ever! It had so much stam and int and my attack power went through the roof! I can't wait to go home and try out that new macro I found that makes my pet cycle through attack, taunt,....etc etc etc"

But yea, not sure if you saw, but the apple store has a section for kids games
    http://store.apple.com/ca/browse/home/shop_mac/software/family_games?mco=MTE0MTkw

Looks like theres a few in there (dora? and some other colourful boxes? lol)

Although I can't recommend any from there, cause I havnt touched any educational games for pc since dos & windows 95 ;p

Yeah, I am sure they are not to young to play it, it's not that hard of a game. Their can also be no violence if you don't want to, you can eat plants, and gain new allies by dancing/singing to them.

Hope that actually helps unlike my previous post :p

If you have Windows XP via bootcamp, the Jump-Start series of children's games are perfect. Such as Jump-Start Kindergarten, 1st Grade... and so on.

Soldier of Fortune >> Grand Theft Auto >> 50 Cent

Your kid will be a gang banger in no time....

Spore could be a good choice. Maybe the Sims.

or seal their room and let them die :)

i actually reckon the WoW is a good idea since there is a economy into it, not perfect, but it is well enough to let them know of investment in raw material, holding on cash, and/or strengthen themselves = greater goods

    cooperation is also into consideration

    why not?

or a sit-at-home kids knowing nothing but wow'ing, and say "hail!" instead of hi, or even yo :D

lucky EQ isnt that popular anymore such that they won't be con'ing everyone

Seriesly this is a good question. My daughter she is 8 and loves flash games from websites. Her favorite games are Sims 2. We bought her every single Sims 2 add on.

setting the house on fire isn't? or are you thinking that i am directing this to your daughters?

why would i go on recommending games to your kids and then turn sharply on suggesting how you should treat your daughters if i might ask?

that's pretty silly to say about games man

seriously i am not offended though, why do you even think like that? :)
