Ok I know this might not sound like a big deal but on all my other computers when I play I use the CTRL key to duck down, which is usually in the bottom left hand corner of the keyboard. Well I can't do that because the Function Key is the key in the bottom left hand corner on the macbook pro. Is there anyway to use the Fn key while I'm playing. I can't figure out a way to use the key and it's kind of an awkward position to not just hit the corner key. I was just wondering if anyone had a way to get around this so I can use th Fn key in game. Thanks for your help in advance!!!

I would say either A)Retrain your fingers so you can pick a new key or
B) Put it on the mouse (i put everything on the mouse, lol) -
You cannot change/map the function key. Just play for a few days and you'll get used to it.

buy a windows based system?

thats cuz its specs are far lower. But in general if you want a control key youll have to go with a windows computer. and it was a joke

old and new MBP keyboards, I guess im just blind and thats a CTRL/control key on both of them? Not to mention ACTUALLY using it to crouch in CS. I dont think the OP was looking for a joke to his question, then again I didnt think 1 key over from FN was really that bad either...
thanks williamg for your awesome pictures since I didnt feel like whipping my camera out. -
He's talking about the annoying placement of the CTRL key, in a not natural place. Unfortunately, I don't know I program to remap the keys, but if you do find one, please tell me.

lol only noobs dont set "q" to duck
-
i use shift to duck alt to walk

There are programs to remap the keys (Ukulele for one) but the Fn key cannot be remapped to the best of my knowledge.
One solution here would be for you to get an external keyboard though. -
Retrain your fingers, the best way to do it man... and I have a Lenovo T60 with the same key placement.

haha well talk about some interesting responses...It's sad but really true that it is like re-training your fingers for just that one button over. I'm interested in both using the "Q" method (even though he tried to whip out the N00B statement on me, I lost respect for you with that one man...haha) and the "ALT" method, but for the "ALT" method how do you change the apple key so it won't kick you out of your game screen if you're in the middle of a game and accidentally hit it. And I don't want to catch no flak from you windows Gods cause we all know you've hit that stupid windows key that's brought you out to the desktop in the middle of some hard core gaming action.
-
oh and by the way whoever said "buy a windows based pc" should be shot, stabbed, shot again, and called a N00B from alienware/user for that statement.
You don't buy a new car becuase you changed the radio station in your old car.
Seriously, did you have malaria when you made that statement cause well then maybe I can let it slide without giving you anymore grief..cause you just weren't feeling well when you typed that. -
right on man! Yeah buying a windows machine is not a solution period. Hey, let me know if you ever want to hit up my clans GG server. I am always looking for a new challenge.

only noobs play CSS on laptops
and to answer the original question you should be able to bind any key you wish by moddin your config file. the only issue maybe the exact name used by windows for the mac type keys.
Gaming Keys...anyone play Counter Strike?
