I am getting a macbook within the next few weeks, depends when I receive the final ammount of money I need. After the recent macbook upgrade I decided that the macbook might just be worth the money. Anyway, a few questions.

    1. Is it worth buying a macbook now (even with the new upgrade) or is the next generation just around the corner?

    2. Will my photoshop cs2 work on my mac with the disc i used to install it on my pc?

    3. Will leopard be fully compatible with this or is some of its feautures being reserved for the next generation.

Im buying the cheapest macbook but with the recent upgrade the spec isnt too bad apart from the intergrated graphics, but dont game so it should be fine.

Your budget probably won't support it - but my guess is that June Apple will release updated Macbook Pro's with SR. The older Pro's may then be discounted - maybe - but probably still a bit expense compared to the newer Macbooks.

The MacBook won't be updated for a while. At least 6 months in my opinion. The new update is the update for the MacBook, so they won't update it for a while.

Nopes, the Photoshop CS2 for PC will not work on the Mac. Unfortunately you have to buy yourself a new copy of Photoshop if you want to run it on Mac. Keep in mind though, the maximum resolution of the MacBook is 1280x800. That's a little small to use for editing large files.

And Leopard will run perfectly fine on the current generation of Macs. Even the PowerPCs will most likely run Leopard fine.

And lastly, I think this is a great time to get a MacBook. They've just been updated to a cheaper price, there's no more issues with them (and if new ones arise, AppleCare will be there ;)) and everything's fine.

Oh another question. When I get my macbook I have agreed to give me parents my HP laptop as I dont want anything to do with windows anymore. I will be using this macbook as my only computer.

I will be using it for emails, surfing, chatting, light photoshop work (on mostly photos taken myself), itunes, watching movies. but thats about where it ends. Will I find the macbook screensize annoying when doing these tasks? and would it be alright to use the macbook as my primary computer, just for these tasks?

Also, I dont game but I heard the sims 2 works on pretty much anything (even intergrated stuff) will it work on the macbook?

    Thanks in advance.
    =)

June 11-15 WWDC. If you can wait a few weeks. The new Macbook Pro's could cause the older discontinued Pro's to be a deal.

Those tasks will run seamlessly on the MacBook. Photoshop may be your only concern, but if you work with smaller files then its fine. And yes, its fine for your MacBook to be your primary computer. Its powerful enough to be it ;).

I'm not absolutely sure, but I think Sims 2 can run on a MacBook, just not well. Like it CAN run it, but maybe slowly and at minimum quality.

Didn't Apple just release this newer MacBook (with faster processor)? They always do this closer to the Summer and release the next model in Sept or so. If you don't want to wait too long, I really don't think they will release drastically different MacBook. What people are hoping for is smaller MacBook Pro at this time as I have been looking to replace my 12" PowerBook for a while now. I really don't think they will change anything on MacBooks (except steady upgrades) until next year (January maybe?).
I base my opinion on past experiences while waiting on new PowerBooks to be released and they are fairly consistent on new releases thx to Keynotes.

You could install bootcamp or parallels as a work around to get your windoze version of CS2 to work

You might check with Adobe and see if they won't give you some kind of a discount or help on the Mac version of PhotoShop. If you're a registered user they might give you some help. Call their sales department, explain you're purchasing a Mac and see if/what they could do to help you. Could save a few coins!

If you're student you might want to check with your school and/or apple to get the education package & discounts
