Hi I want to get bootcamp just because i want to play flight simulator on my mbp. My question is that if i get bootcamp are all the problems that come along with windows come to my mac? I am worried that it will slow my computer down even if im using os x and do i have to watch out for viruses when using bootcamp.

hm thats what has me scared. I think i would be safe though since i only plan of using it for playing flight sim and not even going onto the internet. Still scares me though

Your windows enviroment can get messed up like any other windows enviroment. Install a good anti-virus and firewall (I recommend Sygate and Avast, both free), and you should be very safe playing games and doing things online.

Well, as long as you're not connected to the internet (which would be hard, considering you need Windows Updates and such), then you can't get a virus. So if you're absolutely sure you will only be playing Flight Sim, and you will not be connecting to the internet in any way, then it will be fine.

well, the windows viruses wont effect the OSX though

I have a windows desktop and I rarely have any problems with it. Just make sure you keep windows updated and have at least the most basic anti virus software running (eg. avg or avast).

so no matter how much i mess up windows with viruses and such os x will run just like it did before i had bootcamp?

That's an interesting question. I suppose, in theory, if you have MacDrive installed to let Windows read your HFS+ drives, and you didn't write-protect those partitions, then a virus could possibly mess up the OSX simply by virtue of being able to randomly access the files there (e.g. if the virus could find that partition, and simply deleted everything it could find on the HDD, which is unlikely). Of course, someone would have to write a virus to do this first, or at least find your OSX partition, under the assumption you have MacDrive installed, target those files...
A more likely scenario could be that the virus would simply mess your system files up and actually corrupt MacDrive itself - which then might lead to various problems in OSX...possibly?
It's a bit of a stretch
