I have a couple of questions before i rush to the fifth avenue store to get mine...

1.- What accesories should i buy after i get my new mbp... assuming the i wont be in that store for at least 1 year more...

2.- Does the MBP guaranty goes global after you have it?

3.- Can you get refurbished products directly from an apple store?

4.- Should i be worried about an empty stock of MBP in the store?

5.- Should i use bootcamp, parallel or any other virtualization software?

Any other info related for new MBP will be veryy apreciated... i apologize for my english, not from usa but ill be staing in new york a few days. Thanks

    1) Depends what you'll need...do you want an external hard drive? You can get cheaper RAM on Newegg if you want more RAM.

    2) Yes, the limited warranty as well as the AppleCare warranty is worldwide. Your Mac can be serviced at any Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider in the world.

    3) I believe you can only buy refurbished Macs on the Apple Online Store...I don't have much experience with that.

    4) Most likely not, especially not at the Fifth Avenue store.

    5) It depends what tasks you will need Windows for. I detail it more in the sticky here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=145917

I'll try to recommend a few items for your new MBP:

    1. A case is important. I do not recommend buying it at the Apple store. You can purchase one for much cheaper anywhere else. Also, because of the MBP's USB port limitations, a USB hub would be good.

    3. I don't think you can buy refurbished at the Apple store. Then again, I never asked, so I'm too positive on that.

    4. No. MBP is very popular, especially the entry level 2.2GHz one. When I first went to an Apple store, they were out of stock on the 2.2GHz, but I waited 2 days and called back. Luckily, they had just restocked them.

    5. I am using Bootcamp, but I also heard some good things about Parallels and VMware. There's a thread on the positive/negative aspects of each option.

Anyways, good luck on your purchase!

It'll depend on your tasks, jczet4. What do you plan to use the MacBook Pro for? Tell us applications you plan to run, or games you plan to play, etc.

And I wouldn't worry about the Fifth Avenue store, it has huge daily traffic and Apple would in no way risk turning away tons of customers in its Flagship store because it was "out-of-stock".

As for your latest question, the MacBook Pro should most likely have iLife '08, considering its been more than a week since it was announced. If it doesn't contact Apple about it. They will most likely get you iLife '08 for free.

I saw on the Apple store's website that it is now pre-installing iLife '08 on the new iMacs. I'm not sure about the MBP's.

ahmm, Autocad and 3dmax are the main software... also sketchup, photoshop and a few mores, i know that my mbp wont have much power on games so that why iam not having any hope about play any future games with high details, ill let that to my desktop and let my stylish and cool mbp to works.

I wouldn't worry about it. Boot Camp is very very stable and its mostly just drivers being added now (like better graphics drivers and support for double-tapping, etc.).

1.- What accesories should i buy after i get my new mbp... assuming the i wont be in that store for at least 1 year more...

A case is essential, and possibly an external hard drive (if you think you need it).

2.- Does the MBP guaranty goes global after you have it?

    I believe so.

3.- Can you get refurbished products directly from an apple store?

I think that's only online. but i may be wrong.

4.- Should i be worried about an empty stock of MBP in the store?

I've heard of some stories where people went to apple stores and they had none. I work at FutureShop and all of the stores in the area are pretty much out of stock.

5.- Should i use bootcamp, parallel or any other virtualization software?

If you need to run windows, then you pretty much don't have a choice then, do you?

    Good luck on your purchase!

I just purchased one from an Apple store a few days ago and asked them about this first. It should be 1 of 2 scenarios for you:
    1) ilife '08 is preinstalled on your MBP
    2) your MBP box looks like it was opened and resealed (it was, because they put a copy of ilife '08 in :D )

Either way, you should be all set with ilife '08 for free.

    1) I would buy iKlear to keep the screen clean and the incase neoprene sleeve.

    3) You can't buy a refurbished mac from a retail store, however, you can buy a "refreshed' mac which are mostly open box returns that are inspected by the genuises before going back on sale. These are not advertised by the retail store, you will have to ask them about it in store.

    4) I called and had them hold my MBP so I could save myself the hassle.

    5) I use bootcamp and parallels. Parallels uses my bootcamp partition.

You don't really have to buy special chemicals. All you need is a Microfiber Cloth and a solution of 1:1 isopropyl alchohol and water. That is essentially what many solutions contain.
